The Joint Task Force in Borno State says 13 members of the Boko Haram terrorists were killed during an encounter at the Bulabulin and Bayan quarters of Maiduguri, the state capital in the North Eastern part of the country.
A statement by the Military spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa, revealed that one soldier was also killed during the encounter while two others sustained injuries.
The statement said “the attack which started 4:00 PM Nigeria time on New year day was professionally carried out to protect the lives of civilians as no casualty was recorded on their part during the encounter”.
Items recovered during the raid include three AK 47 rifles, One Rocket Propelled Grenade and large quantity of assorted ammunition and IED materials.
The statement further said that “the raid is aimed at apprehending and recovering more weapons from the terrorists”.
